Hi everyone, newbie here, got a greenhouse last year with a concrete base and managed to raise a few tomatoes and cucumbers in grow bags. I found these to be a real pain in the rear so this year I've built some raised beds. Not filled them yet but intend on filling them with graded top soil mixed with compost. The large ones are 16" deep and the ones under the staging are 12" deep. I'll use those for smaller plants such as spring onions and lettuces etc. Any advice and tips on maintaining the beds in good health over the next few growing seasons would be much appreciated. It's also motivated me to build some more raised beds in the garden so a future project!
    Happy gardening, Keith.

Hello looks good nice solid planters . I grow my tomatoes in a border inside the greenhouse . You may have some leakage when watering that may stain the concrete, its not really a problem the floor will get dirty anyway.

Hi and Welcome to the forum.

Nice looking greenhouse there, first time we have seen a twin coloured looking one like that, are the black strips part of the glazing beads ?

Raised beds do work well in a greenhouse though you will have to refresh them each year with some good compost and / or fertiliser and renew the soil every 3-4 years to avoid any pest build up etc.
Some of the members here have posts about using the AutoPot or similar watering systems, though not cheap, can be economic long term.
We have a specific thread for Tomatoes 2024 which you might find interesting.

Might not be too late to put in a little dainage grate by / under the door strip so you can sweep any water and dirt out easily.

Hi Ricky, its an Elite greenhouse 10'5" x 7'5", manufactured in Bolton. The black strips are plastic beading that help secure the glazing in addition to the glazing clips. Would have liked it to be powder coated too, but that was too expensive!!

Ours is an Elite too, they seem well made, ours is nearly 20 years old and still standing up to the recent gales; its a lean-to 6x8 though recently extended 9x 8.
