Been an amateur gardener for a few years now with grand ideas but little success.
Below is my current borders idea for 2024 and although it is an expensive hobby to buy all these annuals each year, they are well worth it when they all establish and bloom. I am now looking to get the border more established with perennials taking 70% of the space and hopefully less financially draining. Will be asking here for lots of suggestions

So much potential, nice to have nearly a blank canvas.

I think you need to consider some curves to vary the width of the beds, some climbers to clothe the fences and some shrubs and maybe a tree to give you height and some structure in winter. All this is best done and planted in autumn so plenty of time to consider your options and make a plan to make your garden interesting all year.

Once you've got some permanent plants like shrubs and perennials, you'll just need a few annuals to fill the gaps till they grow.

Lots of potential and fun to be had.

          Hi and Welcome,

It will take a year or two for any perennials to get established so you may still need to buy some annual filler plants next year or two; shopping around in April / May time usually finds some good bargains for young annual plants from the larger discount stores.

You have two long borders for perennials though with such a good sized lawn we would be tempted to pinch some to make the borders a bit wider as you will find in a couple of years many perennials will need plenty of space.
Consider making the edge of the border in gentle natural curves rather than a straight line.

The list of suitable plants is so long, so think you need to first decide on a basic theme and then choose the right plants.
With such lengths of fencing, various climbers and possibly trained fruit would look good.

          Enjoy
