Just registered and wanted to say hi.

Am a keen but lazy gardener having taken nearly 8 years to be finally happy with what I have done to the garden. I am mainly into tropicals but I like all plants as long as they are big, trees or have interesting foliage.

Here are a few pics but I will re post some more in about a month when jungle fever is at its height!

its really lovely..i wouldnt say you were lazy to achieve a garden like that..also you have the weather for it where you live exotics would die here..well they would definately die at my house as i bought a banana plant a few weeks ago and it only lasted about 10 days before it went in the compost bin..i love your big plants as i am keen on large plants ..the ones i own all scatter seed everywhere so you wouldnt want them..if i didnt have a wild garden i would love one like yours..

Agree with Wildflower - that's not the garden of a lazy gardener!! It's not my style, but I can appreciate it - it looks terrific! :D

    Thanks for the warm welcome.

Yes I can appreciate not to everyones taste. I give no consideration to colour or continent, if I like it I grow it.

We are very fortunate in essex to have such good weather. I have family in Bedford, which is only and hour away, and the climate seems just that bit cooler to prevent growing some of the plants I have.

My bananas are very spoilt I made them a heated greenhouse for the winter to allow flowering to continue on.

This year all but 2 very small Washingtonias survived and we had frequent mius fives. However not much rain meant that rotting off was no where near as bigger problem as in previous years.

The tree ferns, bananas and gunnera become like pets after a while as they need regular care and attention during both winter and summer. Its easier to take winter holidays because during the summer I daren't leave watering for more that a day or two.

Can't wait until June/July when I need a machete to get up the garden!

Just wanted to say welcome ! to Banana man. My word your garden looks beautiful! very different to the typical English country garden.

Sorry, but have to mention that considering you call yourself a lazy gardener, you seem to have put a hell of a lot of work in! keep it up, it looks amazing!

A lot of work up front so that I can be lazy from here on in. I aspire to do lazy pottering rather than constructing, which is now possible.

General maintenance is a daily thing but its part of my, 'don't be such a stress head' wind-down.

This is what I started with when I bought the house 8 years ago. Just a shed, an original 'crazy paving path', and perimeter borders with daffodils.
