    Hi all,
I am a newbie and a total beginner at gardening. I have loads of questions and a few problems.
I live in Cheshire with my two lovely and lively children 6&4.
My first question is about my lawn - or shall we call it a swamp!!!
soil is virtually clay and gets water logged at this time of year. in the summer the grass quaility is very poor and quite patchy - what could I do to have a better lawn come the summer.
Thanks in advance for your advice -

    Welcome to the forum Sarah.

Not sure how you will get on with your lawn..... kids and a nice lawn don't seem to go hand in hand never mind your poor plants once the children start playing football.

Hopefully you will find out what works well for you.Fingers crossed it all works out for you and your children.Hel.xxx.

Thanks for your warm welcome everyone,

Walnut I am not too far from you I am in Runcorn.

I will check out the lawn board, I know I won't have brilliant lawn with the two kids on it all summer but there is room for improvement in what I have got!

    looking forward to chatting more.

I left Runcorn when I was 17 - I went to work in London and stayed there for 20 years - Only been back for 2 - some things feel like I have never been away.

Hi Sarah, are there any good Chippies left in Runcorn? We are up tomorrow (Dentist)and I could fancy some chips. Jimmy Cheungs in Halton Road used to be good, but not been there for at least 6 years.
By the way Dentists do not exist in this part of the world so we stayed with the one at the bottom of the Brow.

Jimmy chuengs is still there and still as good. K Lee's on Church street in the Old town is good too!

One of the things that never changed in all the years I was away.... a decent chippy!

I know the dentist you mean - My mum lives at the top of the Brow, down Summer Lane.

Good luck at the Dentist! - We couldn't find one here either that's how we ended up over in Widnes.

safe journey and enjoy your chips!

    Sarah
