I know it is v rude to ask for advice as soon as you join, but I think I was a member XXX no of years ago, unfortunately new pc crashed, so lost all my records.

My current problem is I have inherited some plants in a greenhouse, have given them tender care, but can't recognise them, neither can anyone else... I might be tending some weeds. Can anyone recognise them please (have now taken them out of greenhouse as they were taking over). Apologies for bad photographs, not got a v good camera

Hi Ennill and a warm welcome back, and no, it is not very rude to ask for advice as soon as you (re-)join.

Unfortunately, you didn't post the pics of your unknown plants so we can't help you. How about if you post them now please?

    Ennil,
You first have to put your pix on an online photo hosting site. There are FREE ones, Photobucket http://smg.photobucket.com/ is popular and very easy to use.
Once you have them on there, the rest is easy.

Shout again when your ready to post.

Hi Ennill,Welcome back to GC.I hate to be the bearer of bad news but looking at your photo's and my book of Wild Flowers,it looks like you are growing Black Nightshade..Solanum nigrum.

If you want my advice I would get rid of it because it can contain poisons, though years ago it was used for it's madicinal properties.

These days it is regarded as a weed...

Wait until someone with more knowledge of these type of plants comes along to confirm my identification.

If you have to handle the plant to dispose of it,I would make sure that you wear gloves and dispose of it sensibly...

    Good Luck

Hi Ennill and welcome. On first glance it looks like nightshade to me too, as Kandy says - very poisonous. The flowers are very solanum-like.
