I am a returning gardener having not done much for some years.

I started gardening back in the late 60s as a child when my granddad lived with us, we had about 1/4 acre as a vegetable garden and about 50 yards by 2 yards strip of fruit bushes, fruit trees, nut trees and loads of strawberry's. I used to enjoy growing larger vegetables and purple sprouting broccoli was my favourite.

I also kept 3 hives of honey bees at the far end of the garden.

I have gardens a few times since but my last house had soil so poor that nothing would grow (it was built on an old salvage yard) but now have a bigger and better garden so I have just dug up an 1/8 of it and put up a small green house.

My main concern is that the soil is very sandy so I am not sure what will grow best as I have always had clay soil before.

    Stuart
