Help - a tale of two garlics...

    Hi

    I bought two varieties of garlic at the same time from the same place. I've planted them on 6 March in the same bed next to each other so conditions are identical.

    The 'Solent' variety went ballistic really quickly - they are already 10-12 inches high. The 'Marco' variety by contrast, have not yet even broken through the soil.

    Any ideas?

    What do the harvesting times say o the back of the packet? The Marco variety may just be slow growing - have a gentle poke about the soil if you're overly worried about it and see what's happening under there

    I'm sure they're both plant Spring / harvest Autumn but will check the packet...

    Well I dug them up but there's nothing there! Guess they may have just rotted away? Bizarre.

    Stolen by rodents. Look for french looking squirrels and mice (they have a string of garlic around their necks and wear a beret) and that'll be the culprit!

    Entirely possible they were pecked up by birds looking for bugs but it is definitely weird they only went for one type.
