G-s..open compost bins need to be sited on soil to allow the wriggley ones in and for drainage.Perhaps you should be looking at Tumbler bins instead. or hiring a Kango concrete breaker! ;)

I have a very good source of them red compost worms from my old stable yard could I not put a layer of that on the bottom with the worms already in? aaahh but get your point aboout drainage though think I may have to use all them scaffold boards for raised veggy beds instead and get some dalek's for composting on the concrete base, thanks Pal, [IMG]

    Hi Gs
The worms will be near the top of the heap, they need air to breathe. They work on the new stuff at the top as you put it in.
You could make a base "tray" for the bins to stand on.
Timber rails and heavy duty poly come to mind,or perhaps 18"x9" concrete walling blocks?

With a gentle slope built into the poly bottom you could collect any runoff in a bucket ;)
