Hello All, I'm new to this site, but I'm desperate for help regarding my Gem Squash!
I'm in a Housing Assoc bungalow on the South Cheshire/north Staffs border, and it's taken 9yrs for them to finally provide me with a level space outside! However, it wasn't completed till May, so my plantings were all rather late.
My Gem Squash are happily growing in a large plastic tub up 4 supporting 6' bamboos. My problem is that I'm concerned that there isn't enough of the season left for the fruit to ripen (they are still producing flowers).
Would I have more success if I stunted any further growth by pinching/cutting out the tops?
    All help very gratefully received,
    Disabled-Granny

yeah, if they have fruits then just pinch out the growing points and the appearing flowers too
thats what i do (only flowers) with my pumpkin plant, in order to grow giant pumpkins!!

Don't stop them yet unless you already have some fruit forming.

Thanks Seedstotal and JWK for your replies - I'll pinch out the growing tops and hope for the best, afterall, they've reached beyond the 6' canes so from a wheelchair height they are sort of getting carried away on me! lol
I used to grow them many years ago in what was Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe), sadly my memory is not what it used to be - I'd forgotten just how much space they can take up! lol Whatever the outcome, I'll be more prepared next year. :)
    Thanks again,
    Disabled-Granny
