Help identify lawn weed.

    Friend has asked me for advice on treating this weed in his lawn,I am not sure what it is but I would probably go for a selective weedkiller. I dont think it is a course grass as the leaf is quite broad.

    It looks like one of the coarser grasses, something like Yorkshire Fog. Selective weedkillers likely to be ineffective. May need to think about removal of the affected area and reseed/turf.

      I’ve had this, I dug it up, added topsoil and seeded the areas, looks great now
