Solved Help identifying this tree…

    Would anyone happen to know what this tree is? It blooms in December, flowers die off then blooms immediately after.

    Has round nut bulbs in summer.

    The garden was very overgrown over 17 years and when we cut back we left this but worried we’re preserving a weed

    Looks like a Camelia.
    Its obviously not a weed.
