Hello. I wonder if anyone could help.

Back in April I bought a lovely Pink Buckeye shrub. It says it is called Aesculus x mut induta on the label.

It was lovely and green and the leaves all stuck out as they should.

Now the leaves have all but gone yellow with brown edges. They are all wilting and if I'm honest they look like they are going to drop off.

I think that either they need a feed of something but I don't know what. Or I havn't watered it enough during the summer. It says on the label that it likes full sun but it was a bit hot this year.

I don't know if this helps but according to my RHS book Aescules are deciduous so that is probably what your's is doing. The dry weather may have just caused it to do it a little early

Aesculus hippocastanum is the horse chestnut! And that's a big tree!

    Here's your one, http://www.biologie.uni-ulm.de/systax/dendrologie/aescind.htm

and another site says it is a small, slow-growing shrub - phew!!! a relief, eh??

The leaves are shiny, but it's labeled as a deciduous tree, so, as Celia says, chances are you're just experiencing the results of this very dry summer. If the branches and bark look healthy enough, and there are buds forming, you should be ok. A bit of TLC certainly wouldn't go amiss - principally water. Just keep an eye on the condition of the bark, etc and you'll know if it's ok.... Hope this helps

Leaves turning yellow with brown edges at this time of year usually mean a watering problem rather than an early autumn. Either too much or too little.

Question - is the plant in a container or in the ground and how often have you been watering.

oooh thank you everyone for replying. My shrub has buds on it and the bark does look fine so I think from your replies that maybe it needs more watering.
yes dendrubium I am most relieved it is a smallish tree ha ha. I have put it in the garden in the corner of a border. Hopefully to cover a bit of fence in the coming years and not to push it over. We shall see lol.
I shall water it more often and I shall keep you informed of what happens.
    thanks all

The proper name for your tree is Aesculus x mutabilis Induta. This is a large shrub or small tree with apricot/yellow coloured flowers in Summer.
A large shrub is defined by Hillier as being over 3m (10 feet) tall at 10 years old.
A similar one which we have has suffered terribly this year from both the lack of rain and from the dryness of the air. It has gone into early autumn mode.
