I bought this evergreen plant some 7 or 8 years ago and it has slowly made a nice little clump and stayed quite compact too, I just can't remember what it is, it's nothing showy, more a bit of a curiosity, any ideas?

    TIA

Not sure, but it appears to be a type of grass. Maybe in the cereal family with rye etc.

I'd have guessed Luzulla, Bilbo, but the flowers aren't a very good match....

                  Oh dear...I am sorry Bilbo.
Grasses, sedges, rushes, bamboos are so complex that I have never got to grips with them.
It looks very strong and healthy...what ever you are doing it is happy.

Thanks Marley but I'm not so sure, I've Googled that and it says it's an annual grass growing up to 1m in height and preferring well drained soils, mine is a perennial of almost 10 years in age and not growing more than 18 inches and was growing quite happily in a wet area next to a pond, now in a large pot??!! :)

I've just had another Googling session and believe I have found it - Carex phyllocephala, more commonly seen as a variegated form, the height and characteristics are the same :)......I'm now trying to jog my memory as to whether I actually originally bought the variegated form and its reverted over the years :heehee::biggrin:
