    Hi everybody,

    I'm really sorry but I was wondering if you guys could help me find out how many rolls of foam/rubber matting I need to put under my artificial grass.

    My gardens dimensions are:

    Length 515cm
    Width 512cm

    Each rolls dimensions are:-

    3 meters length
    1.2 meters wide

    Please could you show me the formula you used the work your answer out please.

    Kind regards

    Shiv

    515 Centimetres = 5.15 metres
    512 Centimetres = 512 metres

    So you'll need 2 rolls of 3 metres to cover the length of the patch of plastic grass and since the rolls are only 1.2 metres in width that will take 5 rolls to cover the width. 2 x 5 = 10 so 10 rolls it is with a little left over.:dunno::coffee:

      Garden = 5.12 x 5.15 = 26.37 m2
      Rolls = 3 x 1.20 = 3.60m2 per roll
      Rolls required = 26.37 ÷ 3.60 = 7.325 so 8 rolls required

        After doing the above calcs (I was in a car park waiting for wife & daughter to finish shopping) I would normally also check out how it practically works out cutting rolls/sheets/etc. I always put the smallest pieces in the middle (less chance of shifting than at edges?) so did this to show how 8 rolls would work

        If laid the other way round it would reduce the narrow strip by 30mm to 320mm wide, but if you wanted to avoid narrow strips, the 350 wide row could be increased to max. 600mm (half a roll width) and the adjacent row reduced to 950mm wide - there's sufficient material with 8 rolls to do this.
