I am new to gardening, just moved house and inherited some neglected lawns and I am trying to get the lawns looking something like a lawn and not a patchy weed bed.
I am thinking of using Weedol lawn weed killer which I already have and then re-seed the patches and overseeding after but I can't seem to find out if this is possible and what time scale would be involved.
If anyone could advise me even if you would not recommend doing it that way it would be appreciated.

Hi Paul, this is what the lawn looks like, the photo doesn't do it justice as to the eye it doesn't look as bad.
You would probably say redo it but to be honest I couldn't afford it as this is just showing a small part of the lawn but I do have the time to repair it and make it look better I'm not looking for a show garden, just need a few tips as to what to do. Main question is it needs weeding as well as repairing.
