    Hi everyone
After endless hours of online research looking for an evergreen fastigiate to sit nicely in the shady corner of a small yarden [one part of the corner is a fence facing North and the other facing West] I've decided I definitely want to buy a Japanese Plum Yew - Cephalotaxus Harringtonia Fastigiata. Plan is for it to sit in that corner nice and columnar ish surrounded by some existing Astilbe + Campanula.
Now comes the problem. I can only find mature or tiny specimens for sale in the UK, ie Paramount Plants have them at 1.25 to 1.5 m but priced at £225 !! [plus £29 delivery I think it is!] so that's not on the cards. A few [but not many] also have them at around the same size for around £250. T&M have them but only the 2 litre pot sized ones are in stock at the moment so they will be too small [I want a bit of an instant impact rather than having to wait]. The T&M 12 litre pot size, which would probably have been perfect, are out of stock.
Anyway .... does anyone know of anywhere I may be able to get a 12L or thereabouts sized pot one for delivery to Greater Manchester area please? I've honestly tried allsorts of searches and spent hours looking but nothing yet.
An alternative was Ilex Crenata Sky Pencil but there aren't many of those around either to be honest plus not sure it would do that well in that particular location which is why I'd settled on the Japanese Plum Yew.
    That's all folks!
    Thanks
    Deborah

As Pete suggested....I had Taxus Baccata Fastiagata 'Aurea' in my previous garden. It's not a fast grower so may suit your purpose DMM.

It was roughly 6ft in height when I moved.

And being yew you can always cut it hard back.
Just cut back one of mine to brown wood, it has been in place for over 30yrs and has been lopped on three occasions and slimmed down twice over that period.

Thanks Pete & Sheal. Irish could have been the way forward but after all I said above I've just found and ordered a 10L pot of Ilex Crenata Fastigiata instead! I'll give it a go in that spot .... it was what I wanted initially really but couldn't find one before at a decent size. This one is meant to be 80 - 100cm so will be a great start ! They don't get to much above 1.5m apparently which will be perfect for the location.
          Fingers crossed :)
          D

Thank you DMM. :) My current garden is never going to look as well groomed as that, its more about nature here. If you're happy with your garden it doesn't matter how big it is, it's the pleasure you get from it that counts.
