Help please with Plant ID .. dunno what it is!!

A'noon everyone,
I hope someone can help with this, my Son bought it Mother's Day 2008 and I planted it (no instructions included) and it's done... not much at all really! It's only a bit larger than when I planted it last year.

It look like there's bud on it, but also looks like the leaves are turning yellow (soil: Clay) sooo maybe it needs acid/ericaceous soil? It's about 10" at the most.

Many thanks Pete, I think you're right. Just looked it up and they DO prefer Acid soils.
