Hello mickwall and welcome to GC. :)

It looks familiar but nothing is jumping to mind but those berries look familiar and the leaves but not the flowers (Viburnum?) and I'll probably kick myself when someone answers you .... as will you kick yourself since you're a gardener by profession. :D

Could it be a Talinum?, the seed heads look very similar to the Talinum I took a photo of the other day...

Thanks for replying. I have done searches with both suggestions but still can't be sure.
The plant is a very tall (if you let it go) fast growing shrubby perennial with brittle stems and is in flower or has berries at any time of year. This is just one of three plants that has me bewildered. Will post the others soon.

Mick - just seen this thread - and my first thought was that the flower looked like Fuschia arborescens. - I was given a cutting of this a couple of years ago - but it died. Where is it growing ? - I thought they weren't at all hardy.

I have this plant at work inside a conservatory but have seen this planted outside elsewhere. I dont think it is hardy either but will try a couple plants outside this winter to find out.

I first saw in in South Devon, where its hardiness was in question. So I am not sure it will like a Scottish winter!
