hello In reference to my other thread ''gaps in new turf'' i forgot to mention that on one row of grass a patch about 6 inches square was nit rooting and was just turning to dirt so i removed it and patched it up with a piece of left over grass but now the patch has turned yellow and really stands out from the rest its been patched up for about 3 days now and has been watered regularly, it hasn't started to root into ground either like the rest will this be OK or do i need to look at another way to fix.

depends on how bothered you are about it looking i've found the yellowing dos'nt really affect it and the turf will pick up again .......eventually

Time to have a closer look at what's underneath? Is there a brick or big stone just under the surface? Any sign or smell of oil or petrol? You could just wait and see if the grass picks up. like Matt says, or you could dig this little patch out to a depth of about 150mm, fill it with fresh soil and put a new turf on top. You can buy single turfs very cheaply from the DIY sheds at the moment.

Then keep it watered well and don't touch it for at least 3-4 weeks.
