Help still needed with planter at front of house

    Hi all and good morning
    Still struggling with how to brighten up the planting areas outside my house and stop them looking such a mess and forgotten

    Have a planter that's around 4ft by 2ft that sits outside front window.

    Want to have something like this in terms of a layout, but not sure what to plant in each position


    1 2 3 2 3 2 1
    4 4 4 4 4 4 4
    5 5 5 5 5 5 5

    1 = will be some form of flowering climber that will go up and around window
    2 and 3 = flowering shrubs that would be 2 to 3 feet in height so can be seen from inside
    4 = something flowering but not as tall as 2 and 3
    5 = summer bedding plants and ground cover

    Can anyone suggest anything ?

    That's how it looks currently. A mess
    Want to try and make it a planter full to brim of colour and that would cover as much of the summer months as possible

    Ideally would like fragrant flowers. However aware that it's not the sunniest area, it's in shade for most of day

    Would also like them hardy / returning year after year
    Don't mind pruning etc

    Had thought of Lavender for 4 but think the shade would hamper that

    Did consider mock orange at back but guess go too wild and stringy and large

    May just go with fuchsias for the rear of the planter.
    My parents have two at front of house which will be best part of FORTY years old this year !

    Guess if went with fuchsias I'd not need them to be overly hardy as the wall / window gives good protection from frost
