    Hiya.

These young trees were all growing in the China/S.E. Asia section of an arboretum in Suffolk but with no labels! I took the photos today. I'd love to know what they are.

The third one had small grey spikes on its trunk and the fifth one had opposite leaves, like a maple?

    Can anyone help?

My first thoughts 3 looks very Arailia like.
5 I think is a maple, probably a snake bark.

    Hi

I'm thinking it could be an Acacia Tree, which is from Austrailia, asia etc. Looks very much like it if not. They have similar leaves, flowers and spikes. Can be very tall.

Spot on with the Broussonetia and Aralia thanks.

    2 has alternate, hairless leaves.
4 has hairless leaves which are opposite (and the leaflets)
5 I think is too tricky with no fruit or flowers to go on. Have to phone the tree officer I think!

Difficult to be sure. Didn't have a chance to have a good think yesterday.
Sometimes it helps to have several pics eg a general shot,to give an idea of shape, tall and thin,or wide spreading. A close up of the leaves to clearly show if it is opposite or alternate or pinnate. Trunk if flakey, spotty, stripey or spiney, also one of the flowers, seeds, fruits. The more clues you give the easier to id.

    2. I believe it is Davidia involucrata. Common name Dove tree.

    4. Possibly Tetradium daniellii. It is flowering at the moment.
