HELP ! WiFi extender Vs Powerline ?

Now I have worked out a WiFi extender.... got a Netgear WN3000RP. Extends my WiFi into the garden great
Next question . I want to connect my new Virgin Tivo box and Lg Smart TV to a home network ( ?) Not really sure why I want to do this But I could record Pointless from my mobile , I think . Do I need Powerline adaptors/home network for this not WiFi ext ? They cost from £29.99 to £150 . Please advise using small words

I have just updated my VirginMedia package and replaced the V+ box with the Tivo , and fitted the Virgin SuperHub 2ac . So that is my primary WiFi source. Dual band 2.4 and 5ghz . The WiFi to the smart TV works great. I can't believe how smooth it is to stream a HD movie. I can laso pick up Netflix etc on the tablet and my Samsung phone .
I have downloaded the Virgin TV anywhere app. Now the recordings I set on my phone have worked - the Tivo box recorded them .
Now update today ! - I can watch some live channels on my phone - Channel 5 ITV2 and others . But some won't play i.e BBC1 it says the Tivo box is not networked ? I can't actually see a pattern on what will play and which won't.

 

@fat controller , that sounds a bit complicated and pricey . I really only wanted to use TV Anywhere because I could . Like a lot of things you never really use them . If I was on holiday trekking through the Brazilian jungle , would I really want to use TV Anywhere to record the next episode of Corrie . Thanks for your help on this though . I am a little wiser now.

@fat controller , Russ just had time to sit down for half an hour and go through the Tivo tutorial . As you say it is a powerful bit of kit Its bloomin' amazing what it can do .
The tutorial on the box is one of the best I have seen. I am going to go through it again , then amaze Mrs H with the features .
