I am in need of some help with a Aloe Varigata that i have.

It has grown to over a foot tall and it seems the bottom half is starting to die back, which its making the Plant very Top heavy. This I believe has been caused by me continuing to water the plant over the Winter Period when i should not have.

If I do cut off the bottom half and re-pot will I end up killing the plant?

I've never tried it, so wouldn't like to say for sure, I usually use the small offsets for propagation.
If you dry the cutting off for about a week and then try to root on sharp sand it might work.

I have a feeling that this aloe is a winter grower, which goes dormant in summer, afterall thats when it flowers, in winter. [IMG]

    Hi Pete,

Thanks for the info, so should the cutting be from the Bottom half of the plant, or the more healthier top?

I have a feeling that if you decapitate the plant the top piece can be used as a cutting, and if left, the old root might well shoot out new offsets.
But I'm only guessing, it usually happens with most succulents.
