    Hi Gill,

The one at the bottom is a variety of primrose - when it stops flowering the house, plant it outside and they come back every year around this time (provided the slugs don't get them!!)

The top one looks like some form of ficus to me - particularly if it is sold as a bonsai (popular choice for bonsais apparently).. I'm not too hot on my houseplants, so maybe someone else knows differently? :D

Gill ... does it bleed white sap if you wound a part of the stem or leaf?... if it does it would indicate a ficus. [IMG]

    Hi Dave and Strongy,
thanks for both your replies, i kind of thought the one was a primrose, and pleased to hear that it isn't actually a bit of privot hedge in the pot, lol, Strongy...i will check the white sap thing when hubby goes to work tommorrow just the double check,
    thanks again both,
    Gill

If you want to keep it like that you need to remove from the pot very carefully, and trim the roots with scissors in the autumn.
I would google LOOKING AFTER BONSAI

    Hi Rossco,
yes me again, i am sooo not greenfingered, ;)
i start to dread the idea of cutting bits off my plants incase i kill them, it is actually in a normal flower pot, if i did cut the roots back do you think i may be able to get it into one of those lovely shallow bonsai dishes, or might this not be the right kind of plant?
