    Hi,

Can someboy please help me identify these two plants. The first one has orange flowers and I think in the Summer blue berries, which the birds love.

The second one is the plant on the far RIGHT hand side

    Thanks

Thanks - yes it's very pretty and I'd love to know how and when to prune it!

Think the orange one is a berberis, the other one could be a ceonothus on the right, but I'm not sure on that one.

On the far left is the orange one again surely.
    Lets see what others think.

The orange flowering one is Berberis Darwinii. The one on the far left in the FIRST picture is Aucuba, the Spotted Laurel.

Sorry all - on the second picture I meant on the far right hand side, not the left. I've edited my original post

I`m not sure if it could be Elaeagnus or Olearia.

It's Olearia x haastii - a very tough and hardy 'daisy bush' carrying clusters of slightly off-white, small, daisy like flowers in summer. It seems almost indestructible, tolerating quite severe atmospheric pollution, indifferent soils and either sun or shade. The only thing it seems to dislike is poor drainage and even than it puts on a brave effort in clay soils. Grown well it is a fine, hardy shrub.

The Berberis is quite overgrown and in need of a hard prune - is it ok to do this now?

Also the Oleria x haastii needs a trim, should I wait until after it has flowered?

    Thanks, Nick
