For a few years now my lawn as been O.K but not great.
This year I would like to start early as to get a nice lawn for the summer.

So When do I start and what do I do.
I have done nothing since the last cut in November.

If it's anything like my lawn it must be about 7" tall and too wet to do anything with yet!

My next door neighbour cut his lawn a couple of days ago thats what as made me think it's time to start.
I have a small light hover mower that will cut anything including wet grass.
Do you think I should cut it or leave it a while?
Although it was a lovely day today there was a frost this morning.

need to just take the top -off the grass and bring it down to about 3" but it does depend where you live. In the mild south I reckon you could get away with 2".
But you must take the clippings off the grass as they will not dry and decay at this time of the year.

Cut it on a highish cut. Once its properly growing treat any moss with iron sulphate and scarify.

I never use coventional granular feed and weed so dont recomend it but I would sugest you water on sea weed extract.

    Many thanks.
    Another frost this morning.

If the grass gets much longer I'll never get the mover over it .
I'll see how it goes and how wet it is in the next couple of days.
Just so long as it's not to early with the cold nights and all.
    Thank again.

    Still havn't cut the grass.
It's been so frosty , being in the shade it hasn't melted properly.
Today is so dull damp and drizzly.
    It's just to wet.

My husband told me I'll blow myself up with the electric mower if I cut it yet.
    I think I'll hang on a bit .
If it gets much longer I can always get a scythe. :D

Not in Wales you can`t. A sheep in West Wales was diagnosed with Bluetongue this morning and destroyed this afternoon. It had recently been imported from Holland.

I've done it, the grass is cut. [IMG]
It's really been getting on my nerves it looked such a mess.
We had another dry dull day today with a cold wind that dried the grass enough to cut it.
I got right into it, I even had a tidy and half filled the brown bin. :D
It was cold but as soon as I started I didn't notice it.
