    Hi

I have attached a couple of pics I just took of my front lawn. I laid turf down 3 years ago and pretty much from the get go there were loads of weeds. I think the main offender is 'prickly lettuce'. Anyway, I really want to sort it out, can anyone advise what product I can treat it with to make it a decent looking lawn. thanks.

Dig main offenders out and have a party

"Lactuca serriola, prickly lettuce, is a close relative of the domestic lettuce that has been used as an alternative to opium."

Then in your stupor chuck Evergreen feed and weed around as if your a fairy

Ha ha, I guess I am a "fairy" then cos I suggest any lawn weedkiller product. Simply water it on and, hey presto! weeds are gone.

Only if you've been using the opium substitute ;)

Just for clarification.. I was not referring to people who use lawn weed and feed as fairies

thanks. I did put some feed/weedkiller all in one stuff from wilko last summer and nothing happened. maybe I will try that 4 in 1 evergreen and nuke it. I will collect the prickly lettuce and try and smoke it.

No need for 4 in 1......a straight lawn weedkiller applied at right time will work

Sometimes it is best to wait for spring when they are in full growth - it zaps them better. I have used a farmer's broadleaf weedkiller called 'Grazon' that seems to be very effective. But it comes in large, expensive containers.

I've killed parts of my lawn cutting over hanging nasturtiums :frown:, it must be something toxic in the stems ?, it was just starting to look nice i scarified and aerated it in spring and it had just about recovered :frown:.

@lawnpain , to add to Verdun's advice , some pointers from the Lawnsmith site.
And you are correct lawns are a complete pain !
          • Use Weed Killer Concentrate for whole lawn weed control - easy to apply with a watering can and sprinkle bar
          • Use Ready to Use Weed Killer for spot treating individual weeds
          • Follow the instructions on the container
          • Know the area of lawn to be treated if treating the whole lawn
          • Not give an ‘extra squirt for luck’
Martin never heard of Nasturtiums poisoning lawns . Conifers will kill grass around them , they can prevent germination and poison the soil.

Those nasturtiums have simply denied light and moisture to the lawn.
Simply apply liquid lawn feed....quick nitrogen fix.
Try it Martin and you will see a difference in days
Let us know how it goes :)

              Many thanks @HarryS @Verdun,

I should have explained better, the grass was ok all over the lawn, when I said cutting them I went straight over them with the lawn mower obviously turned them into a pulp,

Reading up nasturtiums contain lots of vitamin C ascorbic acid so I'm guessing that's caused the problem, ive since bought some hedge shears ,

Thank you for the recovery tip Verdun, I will give the lawn a feed this afternoon.
