Hoping some of you clever peeps can help, I have harvested three fat seeds from my nerines and could do with some propagation help.

I have followed some advice I found in a book and sowed them straight away, but now wonder have I done it right.

What depthe if any do they need-I erred on the side of reasonable caution and gave them 1cm of half and half compost and vermiculite watered them and left them on the warm southfacing window sill. Have I done the right thing? I feel it doesn`t overly matter as I have the bulbs still obviously but interested

I wouldn't give them much heat, just sow and keep frost free.
I've never had seed pods on mine, but I'd probably prefer vegetative propagation, and not bother with seed.
    Of course I'm just guessing.:)

I understand it can take years before I`ll see flowers from seed, but I can wait-I bet it still isn`t as long as I will wait on my peony seeds, I`ll place in the utility room, it is unheated without direct sun there. And wait and see.

    Thanks Pete much appreciated

Have a feeling peony seeds need stratification,ie. putting out in the frost.

I believe they are supposed to be one of more difficult to germinate, needing a cold spell followed by a warm spell and then cold again.

But they germinate very well under my tree peony.:D
