    Hi there,

My partner and I recently moved into our first home and the gentleman that lived here previously was a very keen gardener. Unfortunately our knowledge about gardening is very minimal. The garden has a number of very well established plants, including one that I am particularly fond of. It has white petals with a yellow inner bit, and appears to be extremely attracted to the sun. When the sun is shining the flowers are wide open, however at night or on a not so sunny day the flowers close up. I was hoping someone out there might be able to tell me the name of this flower?

    Thanks for reading. Steph

From you description it could be a Japanese Anemone, which have a look here at a picture of one. It would really help if you could post a photo of it on here, as there are loads of white flowered plants!

    Hope this Helps!

Thanks for replying... unfortunately I did a very silly thing and had to move the plant in the middle of summer... it sort of started to die but then the soil was so good in the garden it revived itself... not before it lost all it's flowers and is having to start all over again.... Guess I will have to wait until it has flowers again to find out it's name
