    Hi,

Could anyone identify this please, taken about a week ago at a National Trust garden in Devon. I think some kind of Anemone.

    Regards

Hi crrlboo1 and welcome to GC.

At first glance I thought your plant was an Osteopermum ... that's assuming it's the white one and not the purple one we are examining? It may well be an Anenome but to be honest I need a closer look of the flower and leaf to identify it .... but perhaps someone else will come along and assist here shortly.

In the meantime, enjoy the forum.

Thanks for the replies guys. Not sure if i have understood the image posting rules properly but being restricted to 97k meant reducing my image quality - taken with a 12Mp DLSR - quite a bit. Have now attached a cropped image. It reminded me of an 18" Anemone Nemerosa. Don't think it is Japanese Anemone of any sort. Lovely plant though and it had an almost bluish white appearance. Very reminiscent of an Osteospermum I bought recently but as you will see from the closer shot it's definitely not an Osteo.

    Thanks

It looks like a good form of Anemone rivularis to me.

Pity you are not near me, I have a large number of seedlings growing. Seeds sown fresh germinate easily.

Pity indeed. Looks like I wiil have to buy some seed as i can't find anyone locally who sells it. Thanks for the thought anyway. When you said "a good form" does this mean that they are variable from seed? Might go back to Knightshayes (the NT garden where we saw it) in a few weeks time and collect a little seed. I'll ask first of course.

    Thaanks again for your help

If you get stuck, then PM me in amonths time or so to remind me and I willcollect some seeds from mine for you. I will forget.
All plants vary a little from seed, that is how genetics works.
