image.jpeg Please can anyone identify this plant? It is invading my daughter's garden from some waste ground nearby and is wrapping itself around her plants and fence.
    Many thanks.

    Bindweed!

It's a devil to get out because even the smallest piece of root left in the ground will grow. She'll need to use a weedkiller such as Roundup (and repeatedly).

The stems are a bit red like in the knotwood picture. Do a lot of plants have red stems, is that just new growth?

Hi Ella Welcome, yes a lot of plants do have red in their systems but you definitely have bindweed there.. A Gardeners pain....! It is hard to dedicate as said.. The roots can go down as far as twenty feet and yet still come through..!!! I have suffered with it in the past.. You only need the tiniest bit and off it goes again... I used to try and grow it up canes that i then saturated with glyphosate weed killer mixed with W U Liquid.. It makes a very thick concentrated form, then with rubber gloves on I smoothed it up the cane over the bind weed.. It was gone in a few years without jeopardising surrounding plants...:SUNsmile:

              Welcome to Gardeners Corner :sign0016:

You can get Roundup in a gel form now, that should do it :)
