Hemlock.

    Driving around Beds/Bucks, I notice what seems to be a far greater than usual amount of hemlock growing by the wayside.

    What're your observations?

    Haven't been around Beds/Bucks for decades so can't comment on them.
    How sure are you it's hemlock? I would've thought the verges of Beds/Bucks were plenty dry enough for hemlock. My wild flower book says found in damp, sparsely grassy places.

    We have lots of water Hemlock in the ditches around here, i'm always digging it up but i'm now getting on top of it in our ditch :yahoo:

    I've been re-using some old timber today for shelving. It's hemlock, marked "John Lenanton", with BS numbers. Straight grained, but as hard as hell.

    But it's not the sort of hemlock I mean of course. If I go out tomorrow I'll take my camera.
