    Hi,
I haev just received some snow in summer and Lychnis Viscaria Splendens from a mail order firm. They have come in green plastic containers without pots - is it safe to plant these out now, or shouls I grow them on for a few weeks inside?

    Thanks

Hi Andrew, Welcome to GC. Both Lychnis and Cerastium are fully hardy in the UK. You should be OK planting out straight away.

I love Cerastium! Nothing seems to kill ours off. It just spreads everywhere [IMG] [IMG]

[IMG] Andrew welcome to the forum.

As the others have said snow-in-summer is a hardy little plant and once it's happy in your garden it grows wonderfully well, it also makes an ideal place for cats to curl up on..... well my mum-in-law's cat loved doing that! :D Hel.xxx.

Hi and welcome. Personally I would not plant Cerastium anywhere in the garden, except perhaps in a container. It really is the most awful thug!

Welcome Andrew. As you can see on this forum, it's very rarely everybody agrees with each other :)but if everybody agreed, there would'nt be much point to the forum. Put your plants in a small raised bed then you've got the best of both worlds.

Joyce, you mean dig it out. If you just pull it out, as Pal says, it is a thug and like The Terminator it will be back.
