    Hi,

I have just started my first garden this year. I turned my overgrown backyard into something that is starting to resemble a garden. Loving it so far except for the pests and bugs that are taking advantage of the fact that I know nothing and are chomping their way through my herbs and plants... its all a learning experience!!

Although if I could find a way to destroy all slugs and snails, black flys, green flys and the unidentifed thing that is eating my lobelia.

    Hi and welcome to GC.

For pest control, why not have a read up on 'companion planting'. Some plants naturally repel some pests, and some plants can be grown out of the way that attract certain pests, so they get eaten in favour of your more favoured plants. Then there are some that attract predatory insects that eat some of the pests. Its a massive subject and one that I must admit I don't fully understand. Its worth looking up though.
