I would like this opportunity to say hi to everyone here.
I'm a bit of a novice but I used to spend a lot of time with my dad when I was little, in the garden and watch him plant and cultivate his veg, help with the compost and fertilizer and all that kind of stuff but apart from that I have very little knowledge.
I'm more at home at car and BMW forums!
I am scientifically minded so talk about algae, oxygenation, chlorine etc etc I can understand, learn and pick up very quickly but have little knowledge at the moment.
I have a new build house which has quite a large garden but nothing except for a large lawn and thats about it.
Its basically a blank canvas which i'm told would be a dream to work on for the budding gardner/landscaper.
So I'll be hanging around this forum annoying everyone with my novice and ridiculous questions while im planning a few projects ready for the summer! (its bloody frosty today here in the UK which kind of puts me off thinking about gardening!)
Anyway nice to meet you all

Welcome to Gardeners Corner, Biggurs. Well, if you like Science you'll like Gardening as there is a lot of Science in it. Botany is deep in science so you'll have plenty of interest there, believe me.:D:heehee:

      Welcome to GC :dbgrtmb:

As you have a new build you may have a little trouble if the builders have taken away the topsoil - which they do sometimes! When you ask your questions it would help for us to know what part of the country you are in (which helps with climate and soil conditions) and you may need to dig a bit to check how much topsoil you have.

With new builds you can sometimes have problems if the underlying structure is clay and the topsoil has been removed. :rolleyespink:
