Apologies for the misleading heading, because of couse it is not sunny here at all, overcast and blowing a gale would be more truthful.

My name is Ian, and I am 41yrs old, having given up my previous more extreme hobby (scuba diving), I am now settling into gardening!

I like growing tomatoes :) the more unusual varieties, at least thats my plan for this year. I also have plans to grow peppers, melon and pumpkins in my newly aquired greenhouse! I have a small veg plot in the garden, with potatoes, carrots, red onions, spring onion, raddish, peas and broad beans.

I'll apologies now for all the 'newbie' questions I will no doubt ask, but we all have to start somewhere :)

Well, I was going to say I was jealous because it's damp and chilly over this side of the country!!

Welcome to the forum and no need to apologise - ask all the questions you want. That's what we're here for.

Hi Ian and welcome to GC . you could come Scuba Diving here year round almost .... :lollol:

It's also nice gardening here ... I am 'doing' tropical' in 'sub tropical' conditions and it's working nicely ... growing all sorts of plants outdoors that we think are indoor plants .. and so far it's working ....

The only tomatoes I do are cherry types and I just pop them in pots and pray .... :hehe:

Enjoy the forum ... you'll get lots of good advice.
