    Hi

I'll try not to ramble and keep the intro short(ish).

My experience of gardening is limited to a few years where I took on a garden that had been unattended for years it was hard work clearing it but easy in the sense I started from scratch, vandals got to my bought plants so it ended up full of freebies from friends and family and would probably be classed as cottage garden. I had to abandon that project due to family commitments but it's in better hands now.

I have just bought a little cottage that has stood empty for over a year, I haven't moved in yet the builders get to it first but I am managing to spend a few hours in the garden. Everyone who passes says how beautiful the previous owner kept the garden  There are lots of shrubs, some I recognise but don't know the names .. yet but they all have one thing in common they are very overgrown, I also have a very large leylandii (the surveyor broke that to me) hedge which I hope I can afford to have removed.

Anyway that's my short :o intro hopefully I can post photos and get some help identifying the shrubs and advice as to how to tidy them up?

Hi Chinquest-there must be story behind that name.

It sounds like you have done very much the same is I did although mine was empty for years and the garden loved it-grass as high as my shoulders!

Thank you I am sure I will like it here I've been interested and sometimes amused at some of the threads I've read thus far :thumb:

Most of my time online is spent around chinchillas hence the username and I just registered on autopilot ;)
