Hi Tess welcome to G.C. I'm sure you will enjoy your time here. [IMG]
Haven't a clue about veggies although if you look in the right section you will be able to get some advice and ideas.

Regarding herbs ....well almost any of them are great for growing in pots and for some of them its the best way i.e.brilliant for mint as it is a bit of a thug and shoots out everywhere!

You can even grow them in hanging baskets.

[IMG] Hello Helofadigger you have given me a idea, the use of a hanging basket would be the perfect solution to growing my herbs on the front of the house. its away from the cats that visit my garden daily and was a little worried to plant them, so thanks for that Helen a brilliant tip.

my hubbie hates gardens full stop. So the only help ill get is from simba my husky who loves eating like me and she will be digging them up to early if i did grow anything haha.

Hi Tess and welcome to this great site.

This is the second year we have courgettes in large pots. Lots of folk grow tomatoes in pots too and like Helen says, if you look in the right section (both Container and Edible Gardening) you'll find lots of tips. Good Luck!

Hi Tess and a warm welcome from me also, you can even grow small fruit trees in large pots as well. Maybe even strawberries in hanging baskets!
