Hi, new member from Doncaster here

Looking for a place to chat about gardening and other things now that the GW forum is closing down. I hope I'll find old and new friends here.

I've been gardening for the better part of 35 years on sandy well-drained soil in a relatively dry (for the UK) climate here in Doncaster, with advantages and disadvantages of both.

Hi @JennyJB , Songbird here from the GW forum. I too hope to find new and old friends here.
I am based in the North East of England, near the coast. Moved to present house 5 years ago and still finding areas of the garden don’t go far down until I hit the clay pan. However, we have greatly improved the soil during our time here.
Been gardening for many decades.

 

Hello. I garden in Central South England. The garden is south facing, the soil is very amended clay which now drains very freely. I have a special interest in roses with rather too many in pots.
