Morning All,just taking a break from chopping down more ivy and it got me thinking. My property is in a old Georgaian Quarry with about 70 metres long of quarry face 20-25 metres high there is a fence line running along the top the tall ash trees growing out of the cliff face but my side of their fence do they belong to me?
They've put the fence up on the best line for them?is it like a river you own out to the middle?thanks.Roy

    Piccy?
What do the deeds say? It sounds as though the ash trees are yours

The fence at the top may be there just for safety reasons rather than a boundary fence. You need to check your deeds and even then suggest confirming your understanding of them with your neighbours.

Must look out the deeds but if I was putting up a panel fence I'd put it as straight as I could and not weave in and out.
Why would the cliff face be mine?if it fell down it would be their property its holding up.

Photos would help as it's quite hard to picture.

The trees may have been there before they put the fence up, hence why they put it where it is. Doesn't exactly sound like it would have been easy to get the posts in either, hence they may have had to put them in where they could.

As for who they belong to, you would need to check the deeds. Just because the trees are outside of their fenced area, doesn't mean that they don't own the land beyond it :)
