    Evening all.

I'm looking to by CL1.1 a nice folder/certificate holder to keep a permanent record of his martial arts progress. Things like all his grading certificates, photos of him being promoted, and photos of him training as well as hanging out informally with our martial arts family. That sort of thing.

I've looked online, and there's plenty of choices with good reviews, but reviews tend to be written recently after purchase. One that I looked at had mostly five star reviews, but a single one star. The one star review was from someone who bought the item 8 years earlier, and had discovered that the sleeves, made of pvc, had degraded and ruined all her certificates. I don't want that to happen.

So I thought I'd call upon the combined wisdom of my GC family. Any ideas what I should be looking out for in choosing a suitable product?

Yes, some sleeves can affect things like photos. You need to seek out one that doesn't. I can't help much because it's been years since I got a photo one. They do do such a thing though if I recall, because I think mine is (ex wife bought it for me).

How about a decent folio but place the certs in cotton sleeves instead of the pvc? Or laminate the cert before storing. Or sandwich the cert before storing...

I recall something similar happening where the printed ink sticks to the pvc after some time. It didn't ruin the document but obviously not desirable

If all else fails, put them in those punched pockets and in a folder, but to protect them (assuming you don't want to display them in the folder), sandwich them in greaseproof baking paper

Alternatively, if you want to display them, try and find a large photo album
