I am growing these from seed, apparently they take 40 days or more to germinate.
Would I be better off putting these in an electric heated propagator?

    .

Definately nope and move to Scotland if you want proper dark colours!

They need damp conditions, organic soil and shade, hate the sun!

    Cheers

Well, they don't like living in Leicester, not too sure how they'll feel about Alfreton. My shady area with bluebells just gets too dry for them and they die the minute I've got them home from the garden centre.

Thanks for the info guys. Iive put them in pots with growbag compost on a west facing windowsill, do they need to be in a cool place to germinate? The packet said if they dont show in 48 days to put them in the fridge for a few days then try again.

I've tried many times to grow them from seed with no success then a couple of years ago a friend sent me some tiny seedlings, and look they're flowering for the first time in my little wooded area, can't stop myself trekking down there several times a day just to stare at them, lol.

thats beautiful Simbad. I didn't even know blue poppies existed. if they don't like sun then I doubt they will like Bournemouth much.
