I don't think we really need to worry nowadays as the budget for the Galactic Super Highway is going to be too high and a lot of it has been appropriated for things like duck homes!

I remember the first episode of Journey Into Space in 1953 :blue thumb:and the four main characters were 'Jet', 'Doc', 'Mitch' and 'Lemmy'. Deryck Guyler played the Time Traveller - it wasn't Doctor Who! :heehee:

                  That series has just finished.

Still the same four, although the actor playing Lemmy has changed, and the actor playing Mitch changes halfway through I think.

It will probably be "The World In Peril" after this series. The time traveller crops up again.

I always liked Lemmy the best. I think the first Lemmy was David Kossoff.

He was a man with a fantastic, storytelling, gentle voice and was well known for his TV series 'The Book of Witnesses' which told stories of the Gospels.

He made lots of films and I particularly remember him in 'The Mouse That Roared' and the lovely story of 'A Kid For Two Farthings'. The 'kid' was a goat that a young boy thought was a unicorn. The film was extremely popular and was nominated for a 'Golden Palm' at the 1955 Cannes Film Festival - the same year he played Lemmy.

The film was set in the East End and had a very good cast which was headed by Celia Johnson. Doris Day played the boy's mother, and popular actors of the period, such as Sid James and Irene Hand,l were in the film. Even the ex-world heavyweight champion, Primo Carnera, was in the film.

He won the British Academy Award for his part in 'The Young Lovers'. He, sadly, died of cancer in 2005.

Just about remember Journey Into Space , most likely a re run in the late 50s. Frightened me to death ! Never realised David Kossoff had died , although he must have been getting on a bit , as you say Shiney a lovely story telling voice .

My first hearing of Hitchhikers guide was by accident in 1978. I had turned on the radio and two missiles had been changed into a bowl of petunias and a Whale . Moments like that do stick with you for life.
This morning coming back from town , flicked the radio on and the re-run of Hitchhikers was on , and two missiles had been changed into a bowl of petunias and a Whale  Queue the doo doo doo doo music
