I made mine using a wooden tray for the base and the ridge tile for the roof..it's lined with insulating foam and even a lead porch roof. That's so when there is a resident ,I can push it down to stop unwanted visitors but the Hog can push it up to get out.

Haven't got any boxes for the "hedgies" but as we are very rural there are plenty of safe havens for our little friends.

It's rural here too so maybe they prefer a more natural hideout [IMG] But how ungrateful :D

They go under the shed,in the pampas grass etc.
Have on the odd occasion "rescued" them from the main road & put them safely nearby.

You can buy special Hog food to feed the hogs, but we used to feed our fred on cat food mixed with cat meat.I will have to put up a photo of Holly and Ivy two Hogs I rescued a couple of years ago one November and kept them until the spring.Lovely animals but boy did they pong when I cleaned them out everyday. My hog here is still wandering round the garden as he leaves me little dropping presants every day

I don't feed them, they can help themselves to the critters that hang around the compost heap and among the undergrowth. The last time I put food out it sounded like the a battle field on our patio...Not sure if it was the sound of fighting or passion but the noise was scarey!
