well my lads did me proud and i take back everything i said about them. They managed to water all my newly planted plants and various tubsand things without mishap! For this I will forgive them spilling beer onto a silk chinese rug! (never liked it anyway!)

The grass was fairly high although it seems to have died in places. Bought some 'grass feed' from a poundshop and i really do think that where i have applied it is where all the grass has died! Last time i buy cheapo stuff!

A lot of the plants are past their best now ( cant think of exactly which ones but certainly shrub geraniums, hebe, spirea- do I cut the faded blooms off these or just leave them alone??

also my wallflowers have practically gone but not sure if these come up every year or are just annuals so perhaps someone can advise.

A lot of my plants seem to be flowering a lot later than everyone elses could this be because they have only been planted this year and will adjust next year/ my lavender is only just coming out, some tiarella i planted earlier havent even flowered.

tell you what though! I had a great holiday but stupid as it sounds i was really glad to get back and look at my garden! as we only finished the decking and things the week before we went it seems like an age ago.

glad you enjoyed your holiday sounds like you have not lost much in your garden considering this hot weather we have been having.
I have lost a lot of bedding plants and i have been here, i go around mine and cut the dead heads off them and find i always get more flowers.

you dont live far from me and a lot of my plants are also late ..lavender being one of them i still have poppys opening when everyone elses have been and gone..I seem to have it both ways a couple of things are early and the rest late it must be that long cold late spring at fault..and now we are being boiled to death.. At first i thought it was with us moving.(mind i dont suppose that helped.)
