We are off to the sunny IOW for a well earned break very soon.

Looking forward to meeting old friends and doing lots of nice things like Walking,Visiting differant Gardens Birdwatching,Photography Garden Centre visiting to buy even more plants Pub Crawling,Paddling, visiting Dinasaur sites,Nature Watching,Retail Therapy...and finally having a nice relaxing break, wondering where we are going to put all the plants we shall buy, and whittling as to how the garden has fared while we are away...I think I shall need another holiday after all this...

Hope you enjoy the IoW, Kandy. We still have a home there in Bonchurch, near Ventnor. Assume you'll pay a visit to the Ventnor Botanic Gardens? My Myrtus here came from there. There's also a good one at Ryde (opposite Tesco) called Busy Bee which I frequently visited.

Oh, meant to say to you that for the first four years we had this house we only visited twice a year doing what we could. We would drive down with the car laden, spend 10 days being slaves of the land, then drive back, once in April/May then again in October. We "moved" here in October 2001.

This will be our 7th holiday over to "Widget"as a scotsman we met on Mull calls it.
We have a little caravan,so stay on "Southlands" campsite in New Church, where they grow the garlic, and have a garlic festival each year.
For a small island it has everything we need.

We are leaving our elderly dog behind for the first time,so will now be able to visit all the places that we couldn't take dogs, like the Botanic gardens you mentioned and also Osbourne House.

We have never visited Bonchurch, the nearest we have got to it is up on St Boniface Down and Bonchurch Down.We shall have to make a point of visiting.

My hubby likes Brighstone and Mottistone which I also like as it is a good area for walking.

One of my favourite places is Winkle Street.

I still think you have done a marvellouse job on your property, even if you only did it in short spells. As I said before what an achievement!!

By the way, it is up to 32oC today and they are forecasting 33oC for London on Tuesday, with rain showers coming across from the Atlantic later on in the week.

I concur, it's a beautiful island with so much to offer. A great pub is The Spyglass Inn in Ventnor with the most amazing views of the channel and you can see the cruise liners go in and out if you're lucky ... as we can from our apartment which is about 100 metres from the cliff edge and faces the sea.

    Only 26.4oC here today!

There is a nice pub in Shorewell, who's name escapes me, that we always head for when we have been for a nice long walk.
We sit outside in the garden, and watch the trout swimming in the pubs trout stream.Brilliant.

Forgot to mention the Steam Railway that runs from Havenstreet-Smallbrook.Lovely Journey.

Also there is a Shire Horse Centre for the Kids and also a new Dinasaur Exhibition Centre at Sandown.Isle Of White Pearl for the Coach Parties and IoW Zoo for the older kids.

The Needles is also great, and there is the site of the Rocket Testing Range, close by.

I think I will go to White this minute with all the talk of it.

It's 30oC here at the moment.Just right for a nice cold drink with plenty of ice.
