HOLLY

This is Holly. She lived to be 19 and a half and I still miss her. She was great fun, loved people and could talk the hind leg off a donkey. Always insited on having the final word. She loved climbing up ladders but as a kitten, she would take a run and leap up on to the back of my husband's dressing gown, clamber to the shoulder and wrap herself around his neck - purring all the time. She would stay there for ages and loved to be part of our conversation. Later, she learnt to climb ladders and would like to go right up on the roof ridge tile and watch what was going on below. We had to make sure she wasn't around when we opened up the loft ladder as she has a great fascination for what went on up there of course, but would go onto unboarded areas deep in fibreglass, so it had to be a banned zone. She had a beanbag in the airing cupboard and we fitted a catflap in the door so that she could go in and out whenever she needed a bit of peace, warmth and quiet. She slept in there at night but you would hear the flap go the moment we started talking in the morning, she would jump up on the bed with an intense squeaking purr - her finest, happiest song of all,
