    Hi

I saw these in 9 cm pots about 10 cm tall in Asda yesterday- woukd these flower this year or next ?

they were cheap so a quick response would be amazing- they’ll be gone soon

    thanks

Depends how bushy they are - 9 cm pots are quite small, but if you give TLC they should produce something.
I found hollyhocks to be mostly biennial so if they flower while small, they may not come back.

They wernt particularly bushy tbh . It’s just that I purchased some a few years back and they didn’t flower till following year. The staff member was adamant she’d been told they’d bloom in July this year.

The main problem with planting out smallish delphiniums is that they are like Pringles to slugs - they just eat them completely. So be prepared to perhaps grow on in (protected) pots until they're big enough to cope.

I left these in the end . I think they’d not have bloomed this year .

A shame, but with the cost of plants, it's best to be sensible. I've spent a fortune in the past on "special" varieties of delphiniums, but just ended up with fat slugs...

There's a street near me where the hollyhocks grow out on to the pavement as weeds. When they are in seed I pull off a few pods as I go past. I'm now getting a little patch established at the bottom of the garden.
