    my hollyhocks are full of yellow spots ..what is this?

    Probably rust.I don`t know of a cure.Mine are ok so far but i`ll be surprised if it`s not there before long.Saying that,if it is rust, it doesn`t seem to affect their growth. It could also be that they`ve got too dry at some point.I had one in a 5" pot for ages and neglected it a bit.I`ve since potted it on and it looks to be doing ok now.

    Hollyhocks almost always get rust - it's not pretty, but it doesnt seem to harm the plants, and you see it whether the plant is in a container or the soil, so I don't think there's a lot you can do about it.

    Try Googling "Hollyhocks-Rust". There's quite a bit of info. available. However, I've tried a variety of ways to combat rust and none of them are completely effective. If I can't stop the rust this year I'm giving up and growing Canterbury Bells next year.
