Managed to stand on my mobile the other day, and now the screen and LCD is damaged and it won't switch on. To pay of my current 36 month contract with virgin, with 24 months left to run would cost £500. I could then get a new contract phone.
My question, is it worth claiming on my house insurance for the replacement cost ?
I tried to get sample quotes on Compare The Market, but it doesn't ask anywhere if you have made a claim? If I select 0 years no claims this does not effect the price.
The only claim I have made was 10 years ago for a lost wallet, and I was locked in to my policy for 5 years paying excess premium.
Surely you must declare claims, and pay a premium?
    Any advice anyone?

    TIA

Why not just buy your own new phone and plug in the Virgin Sim card and carry on with their existing contract ? You can buy just a phone from Virgin or the open market, all phones should be Unlocked these days, though do check. Most of Argos ones are.

What make/model of phone was smashed, expensive ?

Any claim on your insurance will cost you the excess and naturally increase your future premiums, so for a 'small' value item is going to be a close run thing.

Any chance that includes breakage insurance?

@Kristen, unfortunately I did not opt for the insurance offered.
@ricky101, it was an expensive mobile Samsung galaxy S9 , a lovely phone but not built to withstand my excess weight. I think buying and unlocked mobile is the best way to go.
